Greta's bio
After graduating from Elon University I spent two years working for a product development agency managing the creation and operations of the manufacturing division of the Kin Seng Global. It was an exciting opportunity where I was able to play a vital role in the building of the KSG's international branch. I traveled extensively throughout Hong Kong and southern China, qualifying new factories, performing audits and setting audit procedure, overseeing production and development as well as QA and testing procedure. I developed and nurtured relationships with our suppliers as I worked within their business structure, the business structure of my US-based agency and clients as well as our European clients' still different business structures.
I thrived in the entrepreneurial environment and loved the complex relationships I was tasked with managing all across the world. I became aware of opportunities to have a positive impact, to improve the environmental impact from the design stage and use our suppliers’ wealth of knowledge to consult on environmentally conscious alternative materials. This is the work I wanted to be doing, this is what I am passionate about, and this is my current focus as my career evolves.
In May of last year I began a five-month trek across the Appalachian Mountain Range. My thru-hike affected my perspective and immediate physical lifestyle quite abruptly, and I went from a life where I literally flew around the world every three-weeks to moving at the pace of roughly 3 miles an hour. It was truly a remarkable chapter of my life.
Currently I work as a Client Management Consultant at Level Works, an ethical labor compliance firm located here in San Francisco. Level Works was created with the goal of providing result-driven services to companies that are sincerely trying to have a positive impact on the working conditions within their supply chain. Our smart, talented and experienced team has come together to shape services that address the limitations of traditional code of conduct (COC) programs -- which in most cases offer poor value, drive factory problems underground, and fail to mitigate risk.
In addition I do pro bono consulting with California Clean Tech Open on the Sustainability Operations Team. I am establishing the carbon footprint of the organization as well as the events it puts on. In addition I will be contributing to developing a strategy to address short-term and long-term impact reductions.
