2009 & Beyond: Trends in Sustainable Business
-Expert panel will discuss challenges and opportunities
in sustainable business-
SAN FRANCISCO – October 14, 2008 – EcoTuesday, a unique, structured monthly networking event for sustainable business leaders, will host a panel discussion on October 28 from 6:30-9:00 pm at Hotel Adagio in San Francisco focusing on trends within sustainable business for 2009 and beyond while providing perspectives on the emerging green marketplace.
Panelists include: Ted Howes of IDEO, a global design consultancy, Kevin Danaher, co-founder of Global Exchange and a founder and Executive Producer of the Green Festivals, and Nicole Lederer, co-founder of E2 Environmental Entrepreneurs, an environmental regulation and policy consulting firm. Topics include the direction of corporate and non-profit sustainability; opportunities for businesses; and how the economic downturn will affect corporate sustainability.
“We’re at a very pivotal time in business. People are realizing that every single action that their company takes will have a lasting effect on the future of the planet,” says co-founder Nikki Martinez. “EcoTuesday is the networking event that brings together people who have a genuine interest in bridging the gap between sustainability and business. Speakers at our events across the country are proven leaders who freely share their perspectives and insights with EcoTuesday participants. The panel in San Francisco will be no different.”
“Over the past few years, corporate sustainability has evolved from a fringe concept to a mainstream business strategy,” says Oren Jaffe, co-founder of EcoTuesday. “Businesses of all sizes and across all industries are realizing that sustainable business practices are not only socially responsible, but also deliver bottom line benefits as consumers increasingly reward companies with a proven commitment to making the world a better place.”
Oren Jaffe and Nikki Martinez created EcoTuesday to offer sustainable business leaders a forum to network, collaborate and engage with others to create products and services that make a positive impact in business. EcoTuesday events are concurrently held in seven cities (San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Minneapolis, Marin County, Washington DC, and Silicon Valley) across the country on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
