EcoTuesday Denver had a fantastic event last month.  In the face of a winter storm warning we managed to squeeze in a successful event.  A big thanks to those who were willing to brave the weather to come out and network!

Our speaker for the month was Paul Sheldon with Natural Capitalism Solutions.  For those who do not know, Paul was a mentor and instructor for one of EcoTuesday's Founders at Presidio School of Management and has been an inspiration to the development of EcoTuesday.  After hearing him speak on Tuesday night it is easy to understand how great an impact one individual can have on the sustainable business movement.

As a Senior Consultant with Natural Capitalism Solutions, Paul lead the group in a discussion about utilizing both personal and professional tools to realize the potential businesses have to achieve different levels of sustainability.  He began the discussion by challenging the participants to define what it meant to be a green business.  From there he lead the group in an interactive, thought-provoking discussion.  Not only was Paul extremely knowledgeable in his field but he also created a very open, comfortable environment  that put the audience at ease and stirred some compelling discussions.

As EcoTuesday Denver approaches its 4th event I am overwhelmed by the positive manner in which we have been embraced by the community.  With each event it is great to see new connections being made and the growing enthusiasm around the Denver EcoTuesday chapter.  Of course, the residents of Colorado are no strangers to sustainability.  On any given day you can find at least half-a-dozen sustainably-focused meetups, lectures, conferences, expos, fairs, forums or happy hours.  Here at EcoTuesday, we are honored to be in the company of organizations such as the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado, GreenPrint Denver and The Mile High Business Alliance.

This month, EcoTuesday Denver is proud to welcome Paul Sheldon of Natural Capitalism Solutions as our guest speaker.  As leaders in educating businesses, governments and civil society on the principles of sustainability, Natural Capitalism Solutions has significantly contributed to Denver's Green Business community.  One of the missions of Natural Capitalism Solutions is to teach individuals and businesses to restore and further enhance the natural and human capital while increasing prosperity and quality of life.  On October 27th, Paul will discuss how individuals can help regenerate their careers and communities through sustainable job training and education.

Paul Sheldon is no stranger to the sustainable business community.  He has helped organize the Los Angeles-based TreePeople, Friends of the Los Angeles River and numerous other non-profit organizations.  As a Consultant with Natural Capitalism Solutions, he works extensively with non-profits, governments, philanthropists and businesses.  In addition, Paul has taught a number of courses along side colleague Hunter Lovins at San Francisco's Presidio School of Management, the first fully accredited M.B.A. program in Sustainable Management.   If you are a green job-seeker or just want to learn more about improving the Denver community, RSVP and join us on October 27th from 6:30-9:00 pm at Lola Restaurant.  We look forward to seeing you then!
