Hello from the Silicon Valley chapter of EcoTuesday!
On Jan 26th, we held our event at the Wild Palms Hotel, Sunnyvale, a certified green hotel and a part of the Joie de Vivre group of hotels.
Our speaker Amit Nisenbaum from Better Place talked about Electric Vehicles services; how these services fit within the broader automotive ecosystem; what infrastructure obstacles the `Better Place’ approach will overcome; and the challenges and opportunities created for different players in the EV market.
His talk stressed upon the opportunity in providing a sustainable electric automotive solution, and its importance to the energy independence and a cleaner planet. Simply put Better Place is trying to provide an easy access to a network of charge spots, switch stations and systems that will allow one to drive their EV anytime and anywhere. Better Place has an alliance with Renault-Nissan for their EV production and they are using eco friendly battery, which is the Lithium ion battery. He emphasized upon the cost of the battery and how unbundling that from EV, will make the EV more accessible. The new innovative pricing of the battery based upon the depreciation/ miles was discussed in great detail.
Q&A session extended beyond 8:00pm. The audience was very excited hearing about BETTER PLACE, some of them came up to the Ambassadors and congratulated them on getting a great speaker. We had a record attendance in Silicon Valley and we are looking forward to maintaining the same.
