I am thrilled to announce Richard Brenne as our January speaker. I sat in a captivated audience in September listening to Richard. He is a delightful, engaging, speaker and we are lucky to have him join us at the debut of Portland EcoTuesday.
Richard Brenne is an award-winning screenwriter last produced by the Discovery Channel, HBO and Warner Brothers. He first wrote about climate change in 1988, made his first documentary film addressing this most important subject in 1992 and for the last several years has been producing and moderating panels and town meetings about climate change, peak oil and other resource depletion, species loss and the growth of all kinds that has created these problems. His events have included series at universities from the University of Colorado to Portland State and selling out large auditoriums working with the national radio show eTown.
His panelists and collaborators on these issues include Bill McKibben, James Howard Kunstler, Gary Hart, Diane McKnight, Al Bartlett, Kevin Trenberth and many of the world's top climate scientists, peak oil experts and Nobel Prize winners. Richard is working with these scientists, experts and others to create The Anthropocene Foundation to better study and communicate these primary concerns. Richard is known for his world-class understanding of how all these issues relate, deeply examining spirituality and all ways to change consciousness to address these unprecedented challenges, and for doing it all with his trademark wit and humor.
